Vanitha Veeravalli
Bharatanatyam dancer, choreographer and teacher.
Dance means something more to me than the grammar of rhythms and melody. It is the language with which I find expressions for my inner creativity.
My deep involvement with dance began very early at Kalakshetra. After several initial years of disciplined training at the venerable institution in Chennai, I opted for personal and rigorous tutelage under illustrious Guru Kalaimamani Acharya Choodamani Indira Rajan, renowned for her brisk and vigorous nattuvangam.
I now study and receive valuable guidance under the tutelage of renowned Guru Kalaimamani Nrithya Kala Shiromani Dr. Saraswati, extensively recognized for her creative and evocative thematic dance ballets, to further explore the nuances of presentations.
The energetic and creative style, so richly imparted by my veteran gurus, defines my style of dance today. As a firm believer in the continuity of this classical tradition, I strive to kindle in my students the joy of self-expression through the medium of Bharatanatyam.
My dedication to artistic quality, and passion for excellence in dance are inspired by my rigorous lineage. With this deep-rooted grounding, I endeavor to bring a rich blend of classicism, energy and creative elegance to my choreography and teaching style.
As validation and recognition of my commitment to the purity of this art, I have received honor grants, both in India and USA, for the pursuit of dance.
I am indebted to my Gurus for having imparted to me the language and eloquence of Bharatanatyam, with which I create and share my poetry in motion.
